Chinese video #3 in Chinatown!

Welcome back everyone! You’ve made it to my last official Chinese video. There may be more in the future, but this will be the last monthly one for Chinese.

Watch my video below to see where I visited the biggest Chinatown in the U.S.!

This was an amazing weekend. I wish I recorded the moments of ordering the food and talking with the people who did our reflexology massages, so you could all experience some natural bumps in the conversation. Might I say, that reflexology worked for me! Unless it was just all that tea 😜 The people doing the massages seemed to appreciate an American trying to learn their language even if I couldn’t understand everything. The woman told my boyfriend he was very lucky πŸ˜‰ But they didn’t speak much English so it truly was helpful. These are the moments that are truly rewarding for a language-learner.
When I ordered my food at the restaurant, my speech came out well enough that the waiter understood (though very choppy), but then I had a hard time understanding what he said back. 😳
The next day, I used Chinese to ask a store if they sold any green tea. This time, I was understood and I understood the woman too! That’s progress! I wonder how much more progress I could make if I actually lived near a Chinatown or a Chinese-speaking country for that matter. That’s not in the cards for me right now though so I will have to make do with what I’ve got.

The next video I post will be in a new language! In this one, I only know how to say “hello,” so there will be plenty of work to do for a video. I am glad that I will be starting the videos from the beginning of the year so you all can hold me accountable. πŸ‘

On to 2019! Happy new year everyone! 新年快乐!🍾️πŸŽ†πŸŽ‰

P.S. At the restaurant, we ended up sitting next to a Colombian woman from my hometown area who is an SLP! What are the odds!
